Trauma

Are you suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), anxiety, or depression after surviving a traumatic event?

Are you having trauma-related nightmares or flashbacks?

Do you avoid situations or reminders of a traumatic event?

Do you feel trapped in overdrive – on edge, irritable, ready to snap?

Are you experiencing poor concentration or confusion, or feel overwhelmed?

Please know you are not alone.

PTSD is More Common Than You Would Think

A study from the Journal of Traumatic Stress revealed that Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is more common than you’d expect. In fact, over eight percent of people in our community will experience PTSD in their lifetime. Furthermore, 4.7% of our community will experience PTSD within the year, and 3.8% in a six month period. If you include people who are hurting after trauma but do not have typical PTSD symptoms, the number rises and becomes more troublesome.

In other words, millions of Americans suffer from devastating psychological symptoms after a traumatic experience.

Trauma Changes Everything

Trauma can alter how the brain functions. The symptoms of PTSD can vary. For example, you may find it difficult to trust and are always on guard. Or, you may have sudden panic and intrusive, anxiety-ridden thoughts. Trauma, without question, cay lessen your quality of life.

Find Healing from the Symptoms of PTSD

The signs and symptoms can feel complex, and at times overwhelming. But, you move away from being in survival mode and begin to thrive again.

I use evidence-based treatments to support health and healing as you work on your traumatic experiences in a safe, supportive environment.

So if these sound like you…

  • I struggle with anxiety or depression
  • I relive traumatic events with accompanying unwanted memories, vivid images, and physical signs like sweating, palpitations, and panic attacks
  • I’m hyper-vigilant or easily frightened
  • I feel edgy or irritable often
  • I feel the joy, love, and other positive emotions have been sucked from my life
  • I’d like professional help to better understand and cope with previous trauma
  • I want to live an easier, happier, more connected life

…Then trauma therapy may offer the ideal therapeutic approach for you.

Trauma Therapy Can Help You Move Forward

Trauma therapy combines different approaches and techniques to help lessen, even eliminate, the painful mental and physical responses that come from the memory of traumatic events. Ultimately, the goal of trauma therapy is to create new healthier patterns in your brain.

In trauma therapy, we work together to identify the source and triggers of your emotional and physical suffering. Additionally, we will discuss ways to deal with unhelpful and unhealthy thoughts and behaviors. And, I will teach you techniques to manage distress and enable you to move forward.
